In addition to making a donation, here are some of the ways you can connect and support foster youth in our community today!
At Pivotal, we see incredible potential in the foster youth we work with every day. We know how important it is to provide support and encouragement at every step of their academic and professional journey. This month let’s show these young people that they have a community rallying behind them, and that they are not alone.
On May 8, we're celebrating National Foster Care Month with a series of live podcast recordings. Delrisha White, social impact leader, former foster youth, and host of the EPEC (Everyday People, Extraordinary Circumstances) podcast will talk to Pivotal featuring our scholars, staff, and partners, sharing stories about their experiences, the foster care system, and the work Pivotal does in our community. Delrisha hosted a podcast last year featuring Pivotal Board Member and Alum, Lupe Diaz – listen now!

This year, Pivotal celebrates 35 years of serving foster youth. From our early beginnings as Silicon Valley Children’s Fund in 1989, we knew that foster youth could thrive given support and the opportunity to succeed. Since then, with support from caring community members like yourself, we have impacted the lives of more than 25,000 young people in and from foster care.
We caught up with a few of our alumni to see where they are now, and how Pivotal helped them along their path.
Friend of Pivotal, Dave Cortese, discusses his commitment to improve the lives of young people in and from foster care in our community, and why Pivotal’s work is so important to him.

Tune in on May 22 for a live stream of Delrisha White’s podcast EPEC (Everyday People, Extraordinary Circumstances), hosted in partnership with Harmonic. Delrisha is a former foster youth and will be talking to Pivotal board member and alumna, Lupe Diaz about her extraordinary story. If you'd like to attend the live taping of the podcast, send us a message at info@pivotalnow.org!
In a 45-minute conversation with one of our scholars, you can reflect on your own professional journey and give some advice to a young person with an interest in your career field. Informational interviews are incredibly meaningful to foster youth, many of whom don’t have personal connections to people in the jobs they hope to pursue.
Read, Watch & Listen – check out the resources we’ve compiled to help you learn more about foster youth and the foster care system. Learn and share with your friends, family and colleagues.
You host a party, either in-person or virtually. Invite your friends and rather than bringing wine or flowers, ask guests to donate to Pivotal in support of foster youth. From cocktails at a Happy Hour to a gourmet chef-prepared dinner, the sky’s the limit in what your party can be.
Connect us to businesses interested in providing internships for our Pivotal scholars this summer. An internship can be life-changing for our scholars, providing them the skills and experience that will help them achieve their professional goals.
