TAY Summit - Pivotal Scholars Pay it Forward
Browse Categories:
On Wednesday, August 3, 2022 Pivotal was proud to partner with San Mateo County Children and Family Services Independent Living Program and Central Labor Council Partnership to host the 16th Annual TAY (Transition Aged Youth) Summit.
The day provided an opportunity for young people from foster care to learn from and meaningfully connect with other current and former foster youth. Hosted at Beresford Park, the event included a fabulous picnic, outdoor recreational activities, and opportunities for artistic expression.
The TAY Summit is a judgement-free zone and it encapsulated youth voice and youth leadership in a way that was both inspirational and powerful. The summit closed with a youth speaker panel of Pivotal scholars, moderated by Dazzamine Maldonado, Pivotal’s High School Coach Supervisor. The panel talked about their lived experience and shared advice and stories that inspired them.
“I saw this post on social media by motivational speaker Jim Rohn that stuck with me,” said panelist Anjru, a Pivotal scholar attending San Jose State University, ‘You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.’ My advice is to surround yourself with people who lift you up!”
We are always inspired to see our Pivotal scholars find ways to support, motivate and celebrate one another. We’re honored that these scholars choose to surround themselves with their Pivotal family and to connect with others in their community.
