Topgolf San Jose: Driving Scholars Toward Bright Futures
Browse Categories:
Pivotal scholars recently gathered at Topgolf San Jose for an inspiring Career Day that provided professional development and learning opportunities in a fun, interactive setting. A career panel and interactive workshop provided our scholars with insights into different career paths while building practical workplace skills.
Learning From Professionals and Community Leaders
Members of the Topgolf San Jose team representing a range of departments started the day with a career panel. Scholars learned from staff working in human resources, event planning, kitchen operations, serving and hospitality, and management, who shared insights into their roles and career paths.
Panelists spoke about how they entered their fields, the skills that helped them grow professionally, and the different pathways that can lead to different careers. Scholars asked thoughtful questions about day-to-day responsibilities, advancement opportunities, and what it takes to succeed in customer facing and leadership roles.
The conversation also highlighted current job opportunities at Topgolf, and scholars were encouraged to apply for a variety of open roles, allowing them to understand more clearly how the skills discussed during the panel could translate into real employment opportunities.

Career Readiness in Action with L.I.F.T.
A highlight of the day was a career readiness workshop led by L.I.F.T. (Lead. Inspire. Future. Transformation.) – an organization dedicated to empowering youth through financial literacy and professional development. The L.I.F.T. team’s high school student leaders have developed a curriculum designed to support young people with foster care experience.
Through interactive activities, scholars explored topics including financial literacy, professional communication, workplace expectations, and career goal setting. The workshop helped translate professional development concepts into practical skills scholars can use in their future careers.

Building Community and Confidence
After the learning sessions concluded, scholars headed to the Topgolf bays to spend time together and enjoy the high-tech golf game. Friendly competition and plenty of laughter created a joyful close to the day, giving scholars the chance to unwind and connect after an afternoon of learning. Experiences like this help make career exploration feel welcoming and accessible, while strengthening the sense of community among scholars.

Gratitude to Our Partners
Pivotal is deeply grateful to Topgolf San Jose for hosting this event and creating such a welcoming space for learning and connection. We are also thankful to L.I.F.T. for leading a thoughtful workshop that supported scholars in building skills for their futures.
We are so excited to be building this partnership which helps us expand access to career exploration opportunities for young people with foster care experience.
